Edges

Shear cut edges have the lowest fatigue strength compared to other cutting methods. Shot peening or edge rolling can be induced to introduce compressive stresses and thereby increase the fatigue strength. Milling of the edge is of course very efficient, but expensive.

Gas, plasma and laser cut edges give good edge quality and the fatigue strength is much better than for cut edges.

Edge quality is handled by the joints available in the database.
